Current Events
CNN Student News : Daily news broadcast for school aged kids, approx. 10 minutes in length, discussing current events.
Time for Kids  : Online weekly magazine by the publishers of Time Magazine.
The Big Picture. : Current events site presented through pictures and brief captions.  Feel free to skip the "comments" section.
Student News Daily : Current events website made for kids.  This website publishes daily articles complete with questions as well as a weekly quiz.  Answers are available via e-mail.  Topics of the news items featured run anywhere from local and national news to news from around the world

Geography
Budget Homeschool Geography : A giant list of links to online geography resources.
A Cookie for Every Country : Blog with recipes for cookies from many different countries.
Lizardpoint : Test your geography knowledge.
World Atlas $100 quiz : Be the first to correctly answer this geography question and win!
50 States.com :  Information on all 50 United States.
Time and Date.com : Round the world information - time zones, date calculator, moon phases, holidays, weather, etc.
Maps, etc.: download maps
Sheppard Software : multiple resources including games, activities, quizzes and more in subjects such as math, geography, language arts, health, science, and math.
Teacher Vision :  printable, lesson plans, calendar, organizers, and more.
Worksheet Works.com :  worksheet site with maps and geography related worksheets.
SchoolhouseTeachers.com : A resource of vast proportions.  For a subscription fee, have access to lessons and plans to use monthly, weekly, or daily in your homeschool.  Many subjects represented.
Worldatlas.com : Geography website with maps and tons of geographical and related information.
Uncle Josh's Outline Map Collection :  An outline map collection on CD-ROM available from Geomatters.

Education Place - Along the bottom it says "resources for teachers" and then lists "outline maps."
d-maps.com - lots of free maps to print.
Pearson-Prentice Hall Online - click on the letter of the type of map you are looking for.  Example:  click E for Europe.  Outline and historical maps are available to print.
Free World Maps - the name pretty much says it all.


Government
2011 Constitutional Law course : Offered from HSLDA to members and non-members.  Online class.
Teen Pact : Hands on government learning program with a Christian emphasis.  Programs available in most states.
Bill of Rights Institute:  Information on the American Bill of Rights and the Constitution.
American Heritage.org : Free k-12 lesson plans available, centered on history and government lessons.
Schmoop : Most free, some not - literature guides as well as the low-down on U.S. History, Civics, Economics, Biographies, Music, and pre-Algebra as well as standardized test preparation.
Teacher Vision :  printable, lesson plans, calendar, organizers, and more.
Congress for Kids : Site designed for 4th grade and up with basic information on voting, the branches of U.S. government, elections, and citizenship.

Horrible History You Tube Channel : BBC videos for kids explaining history in short, educational and entertaining clips.  Or, search You Tube for "Horrible Histories"
Ancient Rome Unit Study : Lots of links and ideas for putting together a unit study on ancient Rome.

Harmony Art Mom : Article on how to use notebooking to create a timeline project.
Make Your Coat of Arms : Site to play around on and make a coat of arms.
Fleur-de-lis designs : Site with extensive information on heraldry.
the heraldry game : Site with a game to help explain heraldry.
Legacy.com : Site dedicated to the lives that were lost on 9/11.
Brainy History.com : What happened today in history?
The Helibrunn Timeline of Art History : Interactive art history timeline.
Schmoop : Most free, some not - literature guides as well as the low-down on U.S. History, Civics, Economics, Biographies, Music, and pre-Algebra as well as standardized test preparation.
Oklahoma Homeschool :  Very LOOOOONG list of resources and articles to help with homeschooling.
Teacher Vision :  printable, lesson plans, calendar, organizers, and more.
The American Library of Congress is a wonderful resource for learning about our history and the people who influenced our country.  Click on the "Teachers" tab and see all the resources that are available to help us teach history including a blog with helpful hints and teacher created lesson plans.
Letters of Note :  Website with many letters written by figures both famous and not.  Very interesting for reading up on persons in history, time periods, or just for interest's sake.
Anne Frank Museum in Amsterdam: Great website to visit to learn more about the Holocaust and WWII.  This site has a virtual tours, time lines, and lots of information to see and read.
Playing History.org lists all sorts of places on the web where one can find history related games to play

Warfare By Duct Tape - site with e-books for sale on how to make historical duct tape weapons.
EyeWitness to History is a website I use to provide supplemental information in my homeschool history lessons.  All the information is presented through the perspective of those who lived it.
Z guide to the movies : Lesson guides on historical movies and incorporating them into your lessons on history.
