American Heritage Studies

The state I live in requires the I teach some amount of U.S. government and history each year.  If that is the case for you, or you simply want to teach those subjects this year, The American Heritage Education Foundation may be what you are looking for.  Even if its not, its free, so why not look?

What is the American Heritage Education Foundation?
" AHEF is a non-profit, non-partisan educational foundation (501.c.3) dedicated to the understanding and teaching of America's factual and philosophical heritage to promote constructive citizenship and Freedom, Unity, Progress, and Responsibility among our students and citizens."
More on AHEF's philosophy and mission are stated on their website.

AHEF fulfills their mission by producing and offering free K-12 lesson plans.  These plans can be downloaded onto your computer or you can ask for a free CD or lesson plan printed binder.  The subjects covered are quite varied and deal with a multitude of ideas and topics.  The lessons themselves may require a minimum amount of time to prepare but appear just as well done as in purchased curriculum that I have seen.  My vote - a decent fulfillment of a government or U.S. history requirement.
