Teaching Business

Have you ever heard of Biz Kids?  I hadn't.  I guess it is (or was) a PBS show teaching kids about business and finances.  I just happened upon their website one day and thought it looked kinda neat.

On the website, Biz Kids offers areas for both kids and teachers/parents.  The teacher/ parent area has some lesson plans and worksheets that go along with the different episodes.  I took a look at these lesson plans and they're set up for a classroom or group setting.  With a bit of tweaking, these could be used for a home setting or you could use them for a co-op.  Episodes are viewable online from the site.  They are short and entertaining while teaching about money concepts at the same time.

Meanwhile, the kids side of the site offers calculators, games, and other tools to teach financial literacy in a fun and engaging way.

If you are interested in teaching your kids financial literacy, this free resource may be a good place to start.  I am guessing these lessons are appropriate for kids in the Jr. High to High School years.
