The End of a Dream

My dream was to have a huge, lush garden this year ripe with a bountiful harvest.  Thursday morning I made my daily walk out to the garden to admire the growth and see which seeds had newly sprouted.  Very exciting!  Well...to me at least.

But, by Thursday night my yard looked like a huge tossed salad.  We were fortunate to not have a tornado go through - though we did see some suspiciously swirling mist-like clouds.  But, we did get golf-ball sized hail.

We are thankful no one was hurt, that our car, though looking a bit like a golf ball itself, is intact, and our roof seems to have held up through the high winds and pummeling of hail.  And, since we don't have a basement, we are grateful to our neighbors who offered us the use of theirs.  Though, when we saw these falling from the sky, we opted to not go running next door.

Oh, and all my tender plants in the garden look pretty pitiful.  We'll see if any of it recovers.

[Sigh]  Ah, well...

This weekend is Memorial Day weekend.  Have a great holiday weekend!  Enjoy a cookout, pray for our soldiers and those in need, and remember those who have fallen for our freedoms.  See you again next Tuesday.
